Event: Harry's Hay Days Parade ![]() On May 17th, 2008 Wes Upchurch marched in the Harry's Hay Days Parade, with Lt. Governor Candidate Teddy Fleck. The annual event, which honors the heritage of Harry Truman, takes place in his home town. Both Libertarians, Teddy and Wes were both met with enthusiasm by those in attendence. When asked about this years theme, "Stars and Strips Forever", both candidates agree that it's a great theme, and hope you'll remember the freedom our flags represent when you go to the polls this November. For Upchurch, honoring this hero of Missouri didn't end when the parade did. After introducing himself with hundreds of Missourians Wes Upchurch, took time to visit the farm where our nation's 33rd President spent the formative years of his life. The humble beginnings of Truman seemed to have further inspired Wes to go out there and make a difference in this world. Wes Upchurch said after the tour, "The overall theme of what Truman learned on the farm, helped him throughout every area of his life. Harry is proof that in a free country, hardwork and dedication do pay off. While he didn't succeed at everything he did, everything Harry did made him a stronger person."
