It seems that every election year somewhere in the United States there is a scandal erupting around the voting system. I'm sure if you've been following the news, you've discovered that Robin Carnahan, our current Secretary of State believes that voters should be permitted to vote without proper photo identification. I think you'll agree these actions don't sound like the actions of someone who is concerned with the integrity of the elections, which are so very important to our electoral process. Arguing that required identification is inconvenient sounds like voter fraud just waiting to happen. The best way to prevent voter fraud or inaccurately counted votes is by requiring the use of paper ballots that are publicly counted. Unfortunately history has told us how ineffective that approach is, especially if recounts are required or the official counts are contested, which is one reason why Missouri has adopted the introduction of electronic voting machines. But did you know that it was largely Libertarian activists who worked to ensure that a paper trail would continue to exist even on these electronic voting machines? This is because Libertarians wanted to ensure that when it comes to voting, Missourians wouldn't have to compromise the values of efficiency or security.
If you want a candidate that will stand up for your right to fair and accurate elections, you should support the Libertarian candidate in the Secretary of State race. I am that candidate. If elected, I'll take real actions to prevent voter fraud and work to ensure that our elections are fair.
