I've had a number of individuals ask "What is a Libertarian?" . For those of you that did I'm really glad you asked. What is a Libertarian? Libertarian positions are not "left-wing" or "right-wing" or simply a combination of the two, but Libertarians are generally understood as agreeing with conservatives on economic issues and with liberals on personal freedom. Libertarians believe that, on every issue, you have the right to decide what is best for you and to act on that belief so long as you respect the right of other people to do the same and deal with others peacefully and honestly. Put simply we advocate maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state. A common concept often affiliated with Libertarianism is that of self government. Self-government is the combination of personal responsibility and social tolerance. Responsibility means you govern yourself, handing your own decisions socially and fiscally. Likewise tolerance means you don't force your individual values on people. Other ideas often affiliated with Libertarians are private property rights, a limited government, the privatization of government entities, and a free market economy. If you want unbiased information, all of the questions and answers you will probably ever have about libertarians can be found Here. Or there is always The Libertarian Party or The Advocates for accurate information.
